Metal Found Underneath Internal Door Frame When Fitting Deadlocks

by f0x » Wed Oct 23, 2019 12:16 pm

Hi there

I'm currently trying to install a deadlock in one of the upstairs bedrooms in my house. The house is fairly new build. Built about 18 years ago.

When drilling out the door frame I seem to have drilled through a metal plate underneath the framing. The metal seems to run down the frame behind the door framing. I only drilled a shallow hole in the wooden door frame (about 2.5cm inside) before I hit the metal and the drill cut through it without me even realising.

Does anyone know what this metal is behind the door frame? I'm concerned I may have damaged something important. I can't see any cables or wires, I can only see a metal strip, which I have drilled a hole through.

Can anyone help? Would greatly appreciate some advise. Thank you

Here is a link to pictures I took of the door frame.
