Is it possible to mix LV and mains voltage downlighters on the same circuit?
I have 9 LV down lights in a 2way switch circuit, where one of the switches is a dimmer.
2 of the electronic transformers have failed and I am wondering if I can simply replace them with mains voltage bulbs.
First I must point out 230vac is low voltage. Below 50vac is Extra low voltage and 55/63-0-55/63vac (110vac) is reduced low voltage.
There is no reason why you shouldn't mix the voltages as all the switching is done on low voltage side and the inverter/transformer is connected after the switch.
Of course there will be exceptions. Possible in some areas in a bathroom for example or where wiring does not include an earth connection.
