Mortar in between bricks crumbling

The mortar in between my bricks is crumbling. What do I need to purchase to tidy it up please? I’m new to DIY many thanks

Hi jackiethorn
If the mortar is less than 15mm below the brick face leave well alone. If it is deeper than this you will need: a mortar rake; a narrow stiff brush; soft sand; cement; additive; pointing trowel; small mortar board and a lot of time and patience.
