moving an existing wood burning stove

by ginap7508 » Tue Sep 23, 2008 7:51 am

Hi there,

We already have a small wood burning stove in the lounge, but would like to knock into the chimney breast and install a bigger wood burning stove, so that it fits into the wall to give us more room in the lounge. Who do we need to contact to do this, and how easy and expensive a job is it. Is this something my hubbie could do?

thanks for your advice
Gina

Since 2003 any alteration to a chimney has to be notified to the council, who may or may not agree to the change. They will want to know that the job has been done properly.
