No nails in roofing tiles, is this right?

by trev1972AV » Fri Jun 10, 2022 4:27 pm

Hi All

We just had new fascias and soffits installed on our 1970's build house
along with new guttering, new felt to the eaves and eve protector trays, the job looks fine.

In chat i asked whether it was hard getting the tiles off and he said there is no nails at all on the roof, said the tiles are interlocking and its nothing to worry about. Also said they are really old style tiles.

He has a tonne of good reviews seems well regarded but shouldnt eaves tiles be nailed?

Am i worrying about nothing?
Thanks.

Hi trev1972av,
Fixing specification changes over time, as an example in an exposed location manufacturers will specify all tiles are mechanically fixed.
Generally fixing all verge and eaves tiles is sufficient and whilst it would have been preferable to have your eaves tiles fixed, you presumably have not had tiles blowing off in the past so don't worry.
