No water from the cold tap in bathroom

by btr » Fri Aug 22, 2008 1:11 pm

The cold tap in the bathroom was working fine and then one morning there was just a trickle from it. I thought it was a pressure problem but the toilet and bath taps work fine. There is no cold water at all now from the cold bathroom tap but all other plumbing in the house is working fine - what could it be?

It is possible the supply to the taps is from the header tank in the loft.

It is also possible that an airlock is preventing the water from reaching the tap. Using a hose pipe or some other flexible pipe from a working cold tap , force cold water up the bath cold to remove the trapped air.

Hi btr,

Could be stuck washer and might be tank fed?
If not tank fed - switch mains off remove tap head and replace washer or whole tap stem (revivers) from plumbers merchants or B & Q
If tank fed & you don't know how to do then post back.
