not happy with floor sanding - what comeback do i have?

Post by littlerachet » Fri Jul 25, 2008 12:16 pm

I employed a professional to sand my floors and have just received the bill. Not only is the bill around £300 more than the estimate, I am not at all happy with the work. He has left gauges in the wood, not finished off the corners and in each room lines are clearly visible. Also, when you run your finger along the surface it is not at all smooth.
What can i do?

If youre not happy try talking to him,
you wouldnt pay for a shirt with one arm missing so why pay for a sub-standard job,
worst case scenario get a pro into do you a written quote to put right
give to guy who did work and try hit a happy medium.
somebodys bound to lose out, but why should it be you?

why is the final invoice £300 over the original quote? i can't imagine that there is too much in the way of unforeseen when it comes to floorsanding (happy to be corrected!) if you are not happy then do not pay them until you are.
