Options for Electric Fireplace - Vent in Covered Chimney Breast

by atlanticblue » Thu Jan 23, 2020 11:39 am

Hello all,
I'm moving into a house where they've covered the fireplace in the living room, and where it would have been they've put a vent at the bottom of the chimney breast (presumably to prevent damp accumulating in the chimney?).
I'd really like to put a fireplace in as the room looks strangely bare without one! However, with the cost of moving house my budget is next to nothing. I've found some electric fire suites that look great, but am worried that if I just put it against the wall this will cover the vent and create damp problems.
Can anyone advise if there's any way around this/what my other options are?
Many thanks
