Painting kitchen doors.

by RAD_ABZ » Mon Sep 27, 2010 4:48 pm

Hi all,

recently moved into a new house and I want to do something with the kitchen but can't afford to put a new one in or get new doors etc yet so I'm looking to sand down the existing ones (they are that wooden style with a light varnish), looking for recommendations on how to do this.

IE, do I need to sand off the varnish, what type of primer to use and can anyone recommend what type of final paint to put on them.

I'm looking for a black finish but not dull, something with a bit of shine but not so much that you notice every mark on them.

One other thing, the main thing that is putting me off getting new doors apart from the cost is the drawer fronts are actually part of the drawers, is this a big hassle when it comes to getting new fronts to them ?

Cheers,
RAD
