Partion wall

by Gilmore » Tue Jul 07, 2009 3:07 pm

Hi all
I planning to build a partition wall and make one bedroom into two.
The room being divided has laminate floor, should I just build the partition wall on top of this or cut out a section so that the wall rests directly onto the floorboards

I personally would cut the laminate and fix the stud wall directly to the floor as if you decide to lift the laminate at a later date, it may cause problems if its under the wall. Also laminate should not be restricted in any way so it can still move.

- Take up all the laminate floor.

- Build your partition wall.

- Do eveything else you need to do.

- Relay the laminate flooring in both rooms.

Cheers
