Portal frame barns

Post by CathyA » Fri Nov 19, 2010 9:02 pm

Has anyone got experience or knowledge of converting a portal frame barn? I am thinking not of residential, but to a camping barn. Would it be structurally up to it? Would planning be easier? Harder? If it is for temporary accommodaton does it have to meet residential building regs standards?

hotels etc have to meet building regs so i presume your barn would - ask your local building control officer.

may need planning permission as change of use?

i imagine it would be structurally upto it, but whether it is acoustically and thermaly. is it light enough?

ring campsites which have the same building type as you have, find out what they had to do
