Possible Asbestos When Removing Kitchen Floor Tiles

Post by Chrisbrims » Sun May 03, 2020 10:08 am

Hi guys,

I have been slow renovating my house and one of the final projects in the kitchen floor tiling. I started taking up the tiles and have discovered a black layer in places (see picture). Should I be worried that this is asbestos?

Hi chrisbrims
It's most likely to be a tarmac layer which forms a DPM under the tiles. You may need to form a new DPM before you instal a new floor covering.
