Potterton 30 He Shower Going Cold After Flushing Toilet

by clapa929 » Fri Jul 14, 2017 9:53 am

Hello, I’m new to the forum but have gathered a lot of information from here over the years. I have never had to write a post and have usually found the answer by searching but coming up stuck with this one.

I’ll try and be direct to the point. Up until last week the boiler and hot water system has been working fine, no issues.

The problem:
Shower turned on and works normal. Boiler fires up and HW supplied as required.
Toilet in adjacent room flushes and water temp goes cold (never used to happen).
Once the cistern has stopped filling the shower HW returns.

Boiler (Potterton 30 He) reaction:
Fires up normal when HW demand is first asked for. When the toilet is flushed the demand for cold water to fill the cistern cause the boiler to drop out. I’m suspecting low flow rate in the boiler. Once the cistern stops filling the boiler fires back up again.

Over the years the following parts have been replaced:
PCB
Air Pressure switch
Temp sensor
Diverter Valve (Carried out last year).

All help and advice will be appreciated

Cheers

Paul
