Pump not working properly in new water system

by davedewhurst » Thu Apr 29, 2021 7:11 pm

Hi everyone so I've just installed a new water system and it isn't working properly... Any ideas?
It's an automatic pump fed by a break tank and the pump only comes on every now and then.... Upon firther research it seems I've bought a pump with a flow switch rather than a pressure switch so am I right in saying it'll only switch on when there's already a flow?
This is my pump:

I just want the pump to come on when I open the tap and switch off when the tap is closed.

Any advice gratefully received!
Dave

Hi davedewhurst
You have fitted a pump which needs mains pressure to operate correctly. The initial flow needed to turn on the flow switch is not enough with a tank fed system. Suggest you replace the pump with a booster pump like this:

You may have to go for a more expensive pump if you are supplying many outlets.
