Removing old Deadbolts on Kitchen Door but no Screws Visible

by cestrienne » Thu Mar 16, 2017 5:13 pm

The previous owner of my house put two 'deadbolts' on the kitchen door. They're fixed to the inside of the door, with no screws visible on either side of the door.
There's a ?spring-loaded bolt that shoots out and goes into a metal hoop mounted on the door jamb.
I have the keys [ L shaped things with notches cut into them] - and can get the bolts inside to retract, but HOW do I get the blessed things OFF the door?
I assumed that there was some way of turning the bolt to reveal hidden screws, but I can't budge it with pliers. I have photos of the bolts, but don't know how to make them visible to readers.
I am getting SOOOO annoyed with the stupid things. I just want them OFF, so I can fill holes, rub down, undercoat and gloss the door.
Can anyone help?
