I`m going to attempt to render a block work garden wall, after a lot of reading/searching around there are differnent materials used for the render, I`m sure for individual applications.
Although I`m still unsure on :-
Should I add Lime to my render mix ?
I was going to use the following for the undercoat.
(one part cement to one part lime to six parts sharp sand)
Top Coat slightly weaker.
I think the answer is a no but I have plenty of Building sand kicking around presumably this is not suitable or too fine, I did read it can soak water up in time ?
What sand would be ideal ? Plastering sand or sharp sand presumably ?
Also going to add plasticiser/waterproofer into the mix.
