Hi chriscmartin From your description it looks like both circuits are two way switching. Your replacement switch may be one way switching so you need to check before proceeding. Regards S
I am assuming that the colours you have given are for two switches, one at each end of a hall/corridor/stairs
As the colours are not the same at each end it is not possible to say exactly how to connect your switch, I only wish it were.
However I can tell you the following (same for each switch)
The live goes into L The switched live goes into L1 The slave goes into S
You appear to have 2 browns in your 2nd switch, I am sorry to say I can not help you further as it needs investigating with a multi meter (And the competence to know how to use one)
The existing switch says L1 (brown wire) L2 (blue wire with a brown sleeve) and L3 (brown wire)
