Replacing Hinges on Double Glazing - Cannot Turn Some Screws

by BrendanChandler » Mon Jul 28, 2014 1:15 pm

I have a sophisticated hinge system on my double glazing.
One side of the hinge attaches to the window and the other side of the hinge runs in a metal track (aluminium?) which is screwed to frame.
I need to remove the track to replace the hinge because a spacer is broken but I cannot turn some of the screws. The screws 'look' like stainless steel.
I have sprayed with WD40, Tapped the Screw with hammer, tried to tighten.
Any advice would be very welcome.

try using a drill, cordless preferably at its lowest setting and slowest speed giving you maximum torque, spray the screws with wd40 fast release penetrant spray before attempting to remove them
