sealing oak worktop joints

by turler » Wed Jul 13, 2011 4:59 am

Hi all, I've bought oak worktops, their cut to size, oiled and ready to fit, I know I need to seal the joints before I fit them but I don't know what sealant to use or where to get it from. The place I had the worktops from sell a fitting kit, but I only need te sealant not the rest of the stuff, the sealant in the picture of the kit is Quad rout seal, the only thing is I can't seem to find it anywhere. I'm hoping someone can help me out with where to get it from or suggest an alternative.

Cheers

Hi Turler,

I have recently fitted some oak worktops. Mine came with some mitre seal. The closest I could find was this on ebay Google "ebay.co.uk/itm/HAFELE-KITCHEN-WORKTOP-MITRE-SEAL-SEALANT-CLEAR-/400235401842"

It comes in different colours to match the timber and stays flexible to allow for shrinkage/expansion.

Seemed to do the job.
