Skirting board next to walk in shower

by RainyD » Sat Jun 12, 2021 5:22 pm

We have a tiled walk-in shower and the wall next to it gets a bit of spray every time we shower. The skirting board is now starting to look very tatty with water damage and it’s bulging with moisture. We have tried using sealant over the joins between the skirting board and the tiled floor and shower wall edge but I’m looking for a better solution such as removing the skirting board entirely and replacing with a line of the same floor tiles or some different skirting tiles.

Question is, will I be able to add the new tiles with the existing floor tiles in place?

Would be grateful for any advice.

Hi rainyd
As far as the wall is concerned you should be able to replace the skirting with tiles without problems. You may find the skirting is buried behind the floor tiles so this gap will need filling before you fix the wall tiles.
