I have two soldier arches above Windows which are cracked and worrying me. The first arch is in solid victorian brickwork and the second is in a 1950s extension. Not sure what is holding these bricks up and what I will find if I remove them. And the best way to repair them. Any advice appreciated.
Hi gjedmundes Probably the only thing holding the brickwork up is the window frame. Prop the bricks above the soldiers using acrows and strong-boys. Remove the soldiers and fit a suitable L shaped lintel. Regards S
