Soudal Expanding Foam to holes in wood

by AndyTriumph » Wed Sep 11, 2019 10:12 pm

Hi
I have a car port that was put up in 1968 when the house was and appears to have made by rafters and bolts on to the neighbouring house.

However, there is one corner that doesn't bolt on to next door. The previous owner of my house has put a plastic on the wood that faces next door. When looking at the car port to clean it and to paint it, I found that the wood in that corner has started to root top and bottom specifically where the plastic cover is.

So, I removed as much of the rotten wood out and treated it with wood hardener. Because of the depth of the holes and getting access to the area, I treated the holes with Soudal Expanding Foam.

Now I was hoping that the foam would got rock solid because it says that foam can be sanded and painted, which is essentially what I want to do, but it is still rough spongy. It has been 3 days since the foam has been applied.

What can I do about this?
