spainish garden walls - repairing plaster and repainting.

Post by appleton47 » Fri Dec 14, 2007 12:19 pm

We have recently bought a property in South East Spain. We are about to repaint the exteria. We have started to prepare the garden walls and found that some of the 'pebbledash' type plastering has fallen way from the wall exposing grey plaster and red bricks underneth. The wall is 16ft long and 3ft high. We have two patches, both about 20inches wide and 1 foot long. How do we go about repairing it before painting the whole wall?
Thank you for your help.

Remove any loose paint and or existing plaster/render.
Mix a cement slury using water,, cement and SBR (available from builders merchants).

Dab onto the area of the patch with a brush, leave for 24 hours then
rough out with a coat of render (add waterproofer to the mix) keeping 3/4 of an inch below the finished render.

leave for 24 hours, then apply a top coat of render, while the top coat is still wet throw stones onto the patch to match the existing.
