Hello, I would like to paint an unpainted wooden window sill, with a gloss white paint. Please could you advise as to what steps to take. Thanks

Preparation is key. prime first , you dont have to buy a tin of primer but you can use a oil based undercoat . first pour out a small amout of undercoat into a container then thin with 50% white spirits to make up a very thin primer . use sparingly to coat sill then leave to dry to next day then sand till smooth then under coat by giving a full coat. again leave to dry , sand again and dust before applying a full coat of oil based gloss paint
