Structural wall removal/beam and Laying Easiform (Concrete walls)

Post by HDrayton » Sun Dec 20, 2020 9:41 pm

Hi guys and girls,

First post here so forgive me if I make any mistakes.

I am planning an extension on my home and I am fairly certain it's Laing Easiform which has cast concrete walls with a cavity.

As part of the extension, I want to knock through the external wall of the house and fit a beam. I have done similar with a friend on his house on a conventionally constructed house so am familiar of the regular process, but wondering of the best way to attempt this on a building of this construction?

Would it be best to cut out some letterbox/brick sections for support as per the normal method, then cut out and demolish the wall? Would an SDS weaken the structure so cutting must be done? Etc. Etc.

Many thanks in advance! :)
