Tiled Roof without Felt

by cgp » Tue May 10, 2011 12:02 pm

I am about to purchase a property which has large concrete Roof tiles but there is no felt, from inside the loft you can see the back of the tiles. The property was built as a semi house in the 1950's, a typical apex roof. We will be looking to convert the loft into a habital room, so can anyone advise me as to the best and most efficient way to sort this problem out, are all of the tiles going to have to be removed or can it be done effficiently from inside?, two or three velux windows will be added also.

There are millions of homes with both tiled and slate roofs without felt lining.
Concrete tiles are very heavy and you need to know what you are doing before you remove parts of rafters.
