Toughened Glass Wobbles When Door Closed

Post by doverton » Tue Oct 14, 2008 4:16 pm

Hi,

I recently had double glazing installed, which included a large window in the lounge. This window is made of 4mm toughened glass.

Whenever a door in the lounge is opened or closed, the glass in the unit wobbles This seems to be due to air pressure rather than the impact of the door on the frame. When you press on the centre of the window pane with your fingertips, it can be pressed in by about half an inch, and then springs back into position.

Is this normal? I got in touch with the manufacturer and they claimed it was built to British Standards and will take no action on it - do I have grounds for a complaint?

the wobble is normal, the glass will flex on a large glass unit but being toughened will be very hard to break.
