Unknown switched socket type in hallway and landing

by AJCh13 » Fri Nov 13, 2020 10:25 am

Hello
At a recent house viewing i found a switched socket in the hallway and landing, just above the skirting board, and i have no idea what it is.
I have attached an image, but basically it is a faceplate with a switch in the centre, then in the bottom left corner is a reversed D shape hole.
Can anyone advise please?!
Thanks

Yes.
It is a switched flex outlet. (The flex exits via the reversed D)
They were often used to isolate electric storage heaters, judging by its location (Near skirting board) I would say that is what it was for.

Ah super - thanks Mr White!
Makes a lot of sense based on the locations
