What Wood to Replace the Surface of a Table Tennis Table

by tobester70 » Fri May 13, 2016 11:08 am

Can anyone tell me what would be the best and most economical wood to use for a full sized table tennis table intended for outdoor use. I've considered sealing MDF or plywood but not sure if it will with stand outdoor scrutiny; moisture resistant MDF, but not sure if the surface is right for a ping pong ball; and, Marine Ply, but that's so expensive I may as well just buy a new table. It doesn't help that the dimensions required are 4 pieces at 764 x 1375mm, so 4 large sheets (@ 1220 x 2440) with lots of waste.
