Window getting stuck when closing and needs slamming

by PMizzle » Fri Feb 05, 2021 12:05 pm

Hi, sorry if this is answered somewhere else but both my neighbour and I have windows that are jamming and need slammed to closed. The window seems to be slightly sagging in the middle and getting stuck. I've attached a picture of where the window is hitting the frame as its hard to explain. I've also attached pictures to show the type of window it is as I'm not sure what it's called.

I am hoping there is a relatively easy for fix for this. Any help is appreciated.

Hi pmizzle
This type of top hung (with hinges on both sides) window with a centre bar has no inherent rigidity unless a strengthening bar is incorporated into the horizontal casement sections. The rigidity therefore depends on the double glazing units which must have setting blocks positioned and glued in place to keep the casement square.
You may be lucky and be able to reset the units in the casement to remove the sagging.
