Wiring an external ring main with separate switched sockets

by bodylin » Sat Jan 10, 2009 4:41 pm

Hi

I have put in a new consumer unit and am putting in a new ring main for 3 external sockets. I've purchased Clipseal combination outlets where the switch sits in a separate box beside the socket, but I'm unsure how to wire them up.

Any suggestions

Hi, this is one of the type of posts that really frightens me!
Installing a consumer unit & any outdoor wiring are both covered by building regs part p.
If you are registered for doing this work surely connecting up a simple switch socket should not cause a problem!
If you have notified bldg control that you are doing this work as a DIY job then I suggest you make contact with a local leckie to do your testing & ask him about this problem since it will be much safer than us trying to 'talk you thro' it.
